Vintage Drum Kit Temptation: Minimal, Cool, and Totally Banger-Worthy
Occasionally I stumble across a killer deal on Reverb that makes me want to hit “Buy Now” before I even finish reading the description. I don’t need it. I have no reason to own it. But it’s just too good not to share with you all—so maybe one of you will snag it and save me from myself.
This particular kit caught my eye for a few solid reasons:
- Minimal setup magic: I’ve been loving stripped-down drum kits lately (see my previous post). Less gear means less hauling, and more creative thinking. You’re forced to make every hit count, and that’s where the fun begins.
- Bass drum cymbal mount: I’m a sucker for these. There’s something charmingly efficient about having your cymbal perched right on the kick. It’s old-school and just works.

- Perfect sizes: A 20" bass drum paired with a 12"x8" tom? Yes please. I’d actually convert that tom into a snare by using one of these very inexpensive devices that could turn that internal muffler into a snare wire That combo would be a total banger—compact, punchy, and dripping with character.
Imagine it: 20" kick, 12" snare conversion, ride, and hi-hats. That’s a portable vintage kit that doesn’t compromise on tone or style. And guess what? You can still grab it right here on Reverb.
