TOP 5 ULTRA PORTABLE MULTI-PAD ELECTRONIC DRUM SETS

5 Awesome Portable Electronic Tabletop Drum Kits All Under $400!

Tabletop or multi-pad type drum kits are very convenient and fun. Drums are usually very large and difficult to move. All of the drum sets in this list can fit in a single bag and are perfect for home practice if you do not have a lot of space, or for portable gigging. I have personally tested every drum kit on this list, and can vouch for all of them. Here is my list from most expensive to least.

1. Avatar PD705 (stand and pedal bundle) $369

The Avatar PD705 is my personal go-to portable e-kit. This is the most professional piece of gear on this list. This bundle comes with the offical stand and bass drum pedal. You can buy an additional pedal for another $40. It is very worth having. This drum kit comes with great sounds out of the box, but you can also load your own samples, create loops, trigger loops and samples. It also features 4 additoinal trigger inputs for connecting additional drums. The pedal feels good and the percussion pad is completely customizable. It is fully MIDI capable as well.

2. Yamaha DD75 $299.99

The Yamaha DD75 is also a very professional piece of gear. These drums sound great and have built in speakers that sound really great. The sounds are stock Yamaha sounds which are high quality. The build quality is excellent. You can upgrade the pedals to real Yamaha electronic bass drum pads and hi hat pedals. Allowing you to use a real bass drum pedal. The pedals it comes with do not feel great, but they get the job done. You can create custom kits, but you cannot load samples. MIDI I/O.

3. Pyle PTED06 $211.99

The PTED06 is a very decent multi-pad drum kit. The sounds are good and the speakers are loud. I played a rooftop party gig with mine a couple years ago and it worked well. You can make your own custom pedals using RockBand pedals or by creating any basic switch mechanism. The ones the come with it are okay, but not great. They tend to double trigger a bit easily and it's pretty hard to play anything complicated with them. you can create your own custom kits and it has USB MIDI. You cannot load samples.

4. Lekato CPD1000 $186.99

The big advantage of the CPD1000 is it has a real mesh snare drum attached to it. It has a very solid construction and is more like a mini actual electronic drum set than any of the others on the list. However, like above the pedals are pretty bad. In fact this one has some of the worst pedals on the list. That being said, the kit will allow you to plug in a real bass drum trigger if you have one. The sounds are decent, customizable and has full MIDI features. This one is a bit more complicated to setup though than the others since it has a separate drum module and cable snake. Setup and teardown time is much longer than the others on this list.

5. Konix Tabletop Drum Set $149.99

The Konix Tabletop drum is the cheapest on this list, but honestly it is one of my favorites because of the insane amount of features it has in such an inexpensive package. It is 100% wireless and rechargeable, has Bluetooth midi and audio, built-in speakers that are insanely loud and very decent sounds. Build quality is definitely cheaper than the rest and it is a bit of a toy, but it is a really COOL TOY! On top of that, even though it uses the little micro pedals like the ones above. The ones that come with the Konix are not that bad at all. I found them to be much more playable than all of the others on this list with the exception of the Avatar.

EZ Drummer 3 just got serious competition and it's on sale for only $39!

BFD 3.5 is the third generation of FXpansion’s flagship acoustic drum software, and it’s currently on sale exclusively here for just $39—a steep drop from its usual $199. This isn’t just another drum plugin; it’s a full-blown virtual studio designed to deliver ultra-realistic, mix-ready drum performances straight into your DAW.

The core library is massive: 51 kits and 60 presets recorded by top engineers like Andrew Scheps and Rail Jon Rogut. You get brush and mallet articulations, tom resonance modeling, cymbal swell simulation, and two distinct room ambiences. Whether you're crafting jazz ballads or heavy rock anthems, BFD 3.5 gives you the sonic flexibility to dial in exactly what you need.

One of the most powerful features for drummers is its compatibility with electronic kits. Much like EZDrummer 3, BFD 3.5 can replace your module’s onboard sounds via MIDI. That means you can trigger BFD’s high-fidelity samples directly from your e-kit, transforming your performance into a studio-quality drum track without upgrading your hardware.

The plugin’s internal mixer lets you retune, dampen, and process multiple mic channels with surgical precision. You can sculpt your sound using built-in EQ, compression, and reverb, or dive into mic bleed and room ambience settings to create a truly custom kit. It’s like having a drum engineer on call 24/7.

The built-in Groove Editor is another standout. You can select from a wide range of rudiments, import MIDI files, or use performances from legendary drummers included in the library. The result? Drum tracks that feel alive, dynamic, and tailored to your music.

BFD 3.5 supports VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats and runs on both Windows and macOS—including Apple Silicon. While the install process requires a separate license manager and the download size is hefty (over 55 GB), the payoff is a deeply customizable drum environment that feels like a virtual recording studio.

The interface has been redesigned for smoother workflow, with a new sound browser and mixer layout. You can save custom kits, tweak mic placement, and simulate different room acoustics. It’s ideal for producers who want total control and drummers who want to elevate their recordings.

Right now, BFD 3.5 is available for just $39—a limited-time offer through my exclusive link. If you’ve been waiting to upgrade your drum software, this is the moment.

Watch the video above to hear BFD 3.5 in action. From subtle ghost notes to thunderous kicks, this plugin captures the nuance and energy of real drumming. Whether you're producing beats, tracking live performances, or building custom kits, BFD 3.5 gives you the tools to shape your sound exactly how you want it.

Don’t miss the chance to upgrade your drum setup with BFD 3.5 for just $39. It’s more than a plugin—it’s a full-fledged drum studio in your DAW.

How to add Bluetooth Audio to Any Electronic Drum Set

Add Bluetooth to Your Electronic Drum Module with a Car Adapter

If you've ever wished your electronic drum module had Bluetooth so you could jam along with tracks from your phone or tablet—this one's for you. With a simple car Bluetooth adapter, you can transform any drum module with an aux input into a wireless audio beast. No soldering, no firmware hacking—just plug and play.

🎧 What You’ll Need

  • An aux-compatible Bluetooth adapter (typically sold for car audio)
  • Your electronic drum module with an AUX IN port
  • A standard stereo 3.5mm male-to-male cable (not needed with the one linked in this post)

🔌 Setup Is Easy

  1. Connect the Bluetooth adapter’s audio output to your module’s AUX IN using the 3.5mm cable.
  2. Power the adapter via USB—either from a wall charger or portable battery.
  3. Pair your phone or tablet with the adapter via Bluetooth.
  4. Play any music or video—your module will receive the audio directly!

This is a perfect solution for practicing along with backing tracks, playing to YouTube lessons, or even integrating drum covers into your content. The adapter delivers decent latency and surprisingly solid audio quality. And yes—it’s the same type of adapter designed for old car stereos, proving once again: road gear works in the studio too.

📹 Demo Video

🧠 Final Thoughts

For under $20, this Bluetooth adapter could change how you interact with your electronic kit. It’s portable, universal, and works with any module that has an aux input. This isn’t just a hack—it’s a legit upgrade for any modern drummer who wants to stay connected wirelessly.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried this setup or if you’ve found another Bluetooth workaround that rocks!

Choosing the Right Mesh Heads For Your Electronic Drums

Choosing the Right Mesh Heads for Your Electronic Drum Kit

If you're looking to upgrade your electronic drum kit, one of the most impactful changes you can make is swapping out your stock pads for high-quality mesh heads. These heads offer a more realistic feel, quieter response, and better triggering—making them a favorite among drummers at every level.

Why Mesh Heads Matter

Mesh heads are designed to mimic the rebound and feel of acoustic drum heads while drastically reducing volume. Whether you're practicing in an apartment or recording MIDI in your studio, they provide a dynamic and expressive playing experience.

Types of Mesh Heads

  • Single-ply: Great for quiet practice and fast rebound. Ideal for light players.
  • Double-ply: Offers a balance between durability and feel. A solid all-around choice.
  • Triple-ply: Closest to the feel of acoustic heads. Best for heavy hitters and pro-level kits.

What to Look For

When choosing mesh heads, consider the following:

  1. Compatibility: Make sure the head size matches your drum pad or acoustic shell.
  2. Trigger Sensitivity: Some heads are optimized for dual-zone or positional sensing.
  3. Durability: If you play hard or often, go for reinforced or multi-ply options.

Visual Comparison

Watch: My Take on Mesh Heads

Final Thoughts

Upgrading to the right mesh heads can completely transform your electronic drumming experience. Whether you're chasing a more acoustic feel or just want to keep the noise down, there's a perfect option out there for your setup.

Why the Roland TD-17 Is STILL the Best Drum Module for Electronic Drummers

Why the Roland TD-17 Is the Best Drum Module for Electronic Drummers

As someone who’s been around the block with electronic drum kits—testing, tweaking, and recording—there’s one module that consistently rises to the top for real-world performance: the Roland TD-17. It’s not just marketing hype. This thing delivers where it matters.

1. Pristine Sounds That Actually Feel Like Drumming

At the heart of the TD-17 is Roland’s Prismatic Sound Modeling, borrowed from their flagship TD-50. That means every snare hit and cymbal crash has the nuance and character of an acoustic kit—without the angry neighbors. It responds dynamically to your playing, from ghost notes to full-power accents. The realism is inspiring.

2. Seamless Integration with Hybrid Setups

One of the standout features? You can import your own samples. Whether you're adding layered kicks, vintage snares, or custom percussion, the TD-17 morphs into whatever sonic playground you’re imagining. Combine that with MIDI out and full USB audio/MIDI connectivity, and it's a workhorse in both live rigs and studio environments.

3. An Interface Designed for Musicians, Not Engineers

Nobody wants to scroll through cryptic menus when they’re trying to rehearse. The TD-17’s layout is clean, intuitive, and fast. Whether you're dialing in compression, reverb, or assigning trigger zones, everything is exactly where it should be. It's a creative tool, not a technical obstacle.

4. Practice Tools That Make You Better

Roland didn’t forget the drummer who’s still on the grind. Built-in coaching modes, time-check features, and play-along tracks mean you can tighten up your groove while having fun. It’s a silent teacher that’s always patient and brutally honest.

5. Value That Punches Above Its Weight

Sure, there are cheaper modules—and there are more expensive ones. But the TD-17 sits in that golden zone of pro-level performance without the flagship-level price. For intermediate to advanced players who want to grow into their gear, this module won’t hold you back.

Bonus tip: Consider embedding a short demo video with layered samples from your own kit—Demonic Sweaters fans love a good behind-the-scenes breakdown.

Why Lemon Electronic Cymbals are the Best Choice for Budget-Minded Drummers

Why Lemon Electronic Cymbals are the Best Choice for Budget-Minded Drummers

For electronic drummers, the quest for quality gear often bumps up against a tight budget. We all want responsive, durable cymbals that feel great under the sticks without having to sell a kidney. This is where Lemon Electronic Cymbals shine, emerging as the undisputed champion in the budget-friendly e-cymbal arena.

If you've been exploring options for upgrading your electronic drum kit or building a custom setup without breaking the bank, you've likely come across the buzz around Lemon cymbals. And for good reason! Here's why they're consistently lauded as the best budget option:

1. Unbeatable Value for Money

Let's cut to the chase: Lemon cymbals are significantly more affordable than their big-name counterparts like Roland or Yamaha. This is their biggest draw, allowing drummers to expand their setups, replace worn-out pads, or build a complete kit without the hefty price tag. You can get multiple Lemon cymbals for the price of a single high-end cymbal from other brands. This makes them incredibly accessible for beginners, students, or anyone looking to maximize their drumming investment.

2. Impressive Playability and Response

Don't let the lower price fool you – Lemon cymbals deliver where it counts: playability. Many drummers report that Lemon cymbals offer a surprisingly realistic feel and excellent response. They're designed with a durable rubber coating that provides a good rebound, mimicking the feel of acoustic cymbals.

  • Dual and Triple-Zone Options: Many Lemon cymbals come with dual-zone (bow and edge) or even triple-zone (bow, edge, and bell) triggering. This allows for a wide range of expressive sounds from a single cymbal, giving you versatility often found only in more expensive options.
  • Reliable Choke Function: The choke function, a crucial element for dynamic cymbal playing, works consistently on Lemon cymbals. This means you can quickly mute the sound by grabbing the edge, just like an acoustic cymbal.
  • Good Sensitivity: Users generally praise their sensitivity, allowing for nuanced playing, from soft touches to powerful crashes. Some even claim the bell triggers better on Lemon cymbals compared to some Roland models without causing crosstalk.

3. Wide Compatibility

One of the major advantages of Lemon cymbals is their broad compatibility. They are designed to work seamlessly with most major electronic drum modules, including:

  • Roland
  • Alesis
  • Pearl
  • Millennium
  • 2Box
  • ATV

This means you can easily integrate them into your existing electronic drum kit without worrying about compatibility issues, making them a fantastic upgrade option.

4. Durable Construction

Despite their budget-friendly price, Lemon cymbals are built to last. They feature a high-quality rubber coating that's resistant to wear and tear, standing up to the rigors of regular practice and performance. While some heavier hitters might eventually experience wear, many drummers report excellent longevity from their Lemon cymbals, often lasting for months or even years with consistent use.

The Verdict: A Smart Investment for Any E-Drummer

Whether you're a seasoned pro looking for cost-effective additions to your setup or a beginner building your first electronic drum kit, Lemon Electronic Cymbals are an excellent choice. They offer an incredible balance of affordability, playability, and durability that's hard to beat in the electronic drumming market.

So, if you're looking to elevate your electronic drumming experience without emptying your wallet, give Lemon cymbals a serious look. You might just find your new favorite budget-friendly secret weapon!
